Blog Hop/Follow Friday

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Crazy-for-Books and is an awesome way to for book bloggers to interact and find each other. Such a wonderful idea! There’s a new question every week that all the participating blogs have to answer. This week, Elizabeth of Silver’s Reviews asks, “When you write reviews, do you write them as you are reading or wait until you have read the entire book?”

Answer: It depends on the book. I usually wait until I’m finished, but if a book stirs something in me before I’m finished I’ll make a few notes to come back to. I only do this if it’s a heavy book. I’m afraid that, with all the information it holds, I’ll forget what I meant to write when I’m done. I also don’t necessarily write my reviews as soon as I finish a book. Sometimes I feel like I need to if I’m excited or have tons of thoughts about it swirling around in my head. Sometimes, again, if it’s a heavy book I’ll step away from it and process everything for a week or so before I write my review.

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee. This is another meme that helps book bloggers connect. The featured blog this week is Book Couture. Parajunkee asks “What is your high fashion book (best book cover ever)?”

GracelingAnswer: Ooh. This one is hard. I’m just going to pick the first thing that comes to mind. Otherwise, I’ll be sitting here thinking about it all morning. I really loved the cover of Graceling by Kristen Cashore. It was hoestly the cover that got me interested in the first place. After I read the synopsis I knew I’d love it. After I read it, I was in love with the story and Kristen Cashore.

  4. Hopping by to say "hi". I don't know how you can wait a week to review a book. I'm three or four books beyond it at that point and my brain just won't hold information that long.

  12. I know that I wish I had payed more attention in Lit Crit class or that it wasn't 33 years ago. Maybe both. I did memorize Leda and the Swan "A Sudden Blow the Great Wings Beating, …." But it isn't something one would recite at dinner. Today it would probably be banned!Following stop on over:Fangs, Wands and Fairy Dustemail: steph@fangswandsandfairydust.comtwitter: @fangswandsfairy

  16. Hi. It was a long week and now a relaxing sunny week-end. I really like the cover of Graceling, too. There are so many great covers it is hard to choose. What type of librarian do you want to be? I am a high school librarian in a public school. Please hop over to my blog and take part in my poll about Banned Books. Thanks.-AnneHeaddfullofbooks
