WoW: Clockwork Prince & The Iron Knight + Breaking Dawn Trailer

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that readers are eagerly awaiting.

I know these releases are far away, but I love those covers!

Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices #2)
by Cassandra Clare
Release Date: December 6, 2011

In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street—and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends.

With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move—and that one of their own has betrayed them.

Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, but her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will—the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?

As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

Oh, how I love that cover. Forget Will. I’m all about some Jem.

The Iron Knight (Iron Fey #4)
by Julie Kagawa
Release Date: October 25, 2011

Okay, so I don’t have a synopsis for this one, but I love that cover. I read where some of people on Goodreads were discussing what the book would be about. Would it be like Midnight Sun or would it be Ash’s back story? I felt like the only person with any common sense. The story is obviously not over. I mean, I guess it could have ended with Iron Queen, but I would have been disappointed because I felt like there was more to the story. I definitely didn’t close that book thinking that the series was over. Anyway, Julie Kagawa has a little info about it on her FAQ, saying that it will be written from Ash’s POV, but will continue after the events of The Iron Queen. That’s what I had assumed it would be, but since there was some debate about that on Goodreads, I thought I’d give everyone a head’s up.

Finally, though I’ve tossed and turned with my loyalty to the Twilight series. People usually love it or hate it. I’m pretty neutral. They were great when I read them, but I’ve read better books since. And I’ve never endeavored to write a review for the simple fact that there are a million out there and pretty much everyone has read them anyway. At any rate, I find myself buying the special editions of the book as they’re released (if for no other reason, than because they’re pretty). And I would never deny that I really loved the graphic novel, and I’m eagerly awaiting the second volume. I guess it shouldn’t be any surprise to me that this excited me a little.

I can’t help it. I’m just praying to no more cringe-worthy acting (probably in vain). And holy moly at that glimpse of the sex scene. I kind of expected them to do it the way it was in the book. Meyer didn’t write out those scenes, she just had Edward and Bella refer to them the next morning. Oh well. I guess we can’t deprive hormonal teens their sex scenes.

Anyway, that’s my Waiting on Wednesday. I know I rarely post this meme, but I usually have a hard time coming up with something I’m ecstatic about. We’ll see how long it takes me to get truly excited about something again.

PS – Come back later today for my review of Darwin’s Children by Natasha Larry.
