Mailbox Monday

Mailbox Monday is on tour! This month it’s being hosted by Bermudaonion. This is a weekly meme created by The Printed Page where book bloggers show off the books they received, picked up from the library, or bought at the book store.

This week was insane. I had so much to do! I felt like I could barely keep up with my Vocal Pedagogy class. Sadly, the organist at my church died so I went to that funeral. One of his students played the most amazing Bach Prelude and Fugue and “Nimrod” from the Enigma Variations. That’s my favorite movement! It’s so emotional. I also took the GRE Saturday so I was trying to prepare a little for that. I can’t wait to get my writing scores back. I felt really great about that part and I want to see how they grade it. Okay, back to books!

The Paris Wife: A Novel

ARC for review
In Chicago in 1920, Hadley Richardson is a quiet twenty-eight-year-old who has all but given up on love and happiness–until she meets Ernest Hemingway and finds herself captivated by his good looks, intensitym and passionate desire to write. Following a whirlwind courtship and wedding, the pair set sail for Paris, where they become the golden couple in a lively and volatile group of expatriates that includes Gertrude Stein, Ezra Pound, and F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. But the hard-drinking and fast-living café life does not celebrate traditional notions of family and monogamy. As Hadley struggles with jealousy and self-doubt and Ernest wrestles with his burgeoning writing career, they must confront a deception that could prove the undoing of one of the great romances in literary history.
